After a week away on vacation, I am back at it and making great progress with Lesson 12 of TMBG. I’ve moved on to playing “Turn Down” along with the band and can now proficiently play along at the fast speed with little to no errors. Time to move on to the next song “Richest Daddy in the World”, which I’m feeling like I should be able to master fairly quickly. Woohoo! That means Lesson 13 is just around the corner.
I’ve been try to keep things fresh by learning songs that have distinctive bass lines. This week I learned “Under the Milky Way” by The Church and “My City Was Gone” by the Pretenders. It really seems to boost my confidence when I am able to learn songs with great bass lines. I also started working on Stanley Clarke’s “School Days”, but expect that one will take a while before I master it.
As for the blog, I’ve been trying to change things up a bit. I’ve posted a couple of “Twitteresque” Status Updates and am looking at other ways to increase my posting frequency. I’m even toying with the idea of abandoning the Weekly Ramble in favor of more frequent, short, Status Updates. In any case, please bear with me as I experiment a little and feel free to comment on anything you do or don’t like.
