Weekly Ramble 9/9/11

Made some great progress on “The Trouble with the Truth” this past week.  I have the main structure of the song down, but am still working on all the little fills and transitions that Roy throws in on this one.  Feels like I am finally getting back on track and into a good routine.  I had some issues with my computer over the weekend, that I have since resolved, but I still need to get myself setup again to record while I practice.  If you’re not recording yourself, I highly recommend it as that it points out in no uncertain terms all of your flubs and flaws.  Funny how different it sounds when you play back something you just recorded, definitely a great learning tool.

I have to give a big shout out to Patrick, David and all the folks at the Learning Dock and Teach Me Bass Guitar for coming through on their end and providing MP3′s for all of the audio tracks associated with the TMBG Course.  This is something that myself and a few others have been asking for on ThunderRow.com for a while and this week Patrick came through for us and posted access to everything on the members section of the site.  This is a great tool to have for jamming along with the songs from the lessons.  I’ve already made a playlist of songs from the lesson’s I have completed and have started playing along.  Additionally, now I can listen to “The Trouble with the Truth” anytime I want on my iPod to really ingrain it in my head, previously I had to pop in the DVD just to give it a listen which tied me to my computer or TV.  This is a prime example of how the good people at The Learning Dock really listen to their end users, I just cannot recommend the Teach Me Bass Guitar Course enough if you are really serious about learning how to play bass.
