Continued picking at “The Trouble With the Truth” in Lesson 11 of Teach Me Bass Guitar this past week. Things are starting to flow a little easier now, but I still haven’t completely internalized it yet. My typical routine is to go through the video a couple of times then work with the written music, slowly, until I feel I am ready to move on. I’m feeling just about ready to pop the video back in and work through the song with Roy again, before jamming with the band. So far this system seems to be working for me, so I guess I’ll stick with it. My progress is slower going than I had anticipated, but I really haven’t been giving it my full attention lately. I’ve had a few days where I just haven’t felt like playing, so I don’t. Trying to mix things up a bit by reading or watching TV so as not burn myself out.
Had a great jam session last Sunday with some friends. We hadn’t gotten together in a while, so it was great just to hook up and jam. For whatever reason we were all feeling especially creative that day and came up with some really cool stuff. My buddy recorded it all in Logic and I’m hoping to get a copy of it and maybe post some of it here or on Soundcloud. I definitely found myself employing many of the techniques I have learned from the Teach me Bass Guitar course, so I can say without a doubt the course is having a huge impact on my playing. Truly, this is the greatest motivation I can get.
